Half price tickets for shows are just around the corner and great value. The free Wall street tour and the free tour of Grand Central were both enjoyable and informative. Grayline bus four loop tour great value.

Just down the road there is a restaurant named "Juniors" that does a resonably priced and tasty breakfast with lots of choices on the menu to suit any palate. Across the road is the Half Tiks place, where you have to line up for about an hour and a half to get 50% theatre tickets. Get there about 9:30am for a matinee and 4:30pm for an evening show. You will then have time before your show to eat or do some sight seeing.

My stay at Milford Plaza was at first marred by a reservation mix-up, but once that had been resolved, the rest of the week was fine. You shouldn't expect any frills, even with a club room, but the staff were polite and helpful, and the dated decor and amenities were spotlessly clean, if nothing else. The building is excellently situated for theatre shows and shopping, and is a very short walk from Central Park. The room I stayed in even had complimentary views of Times Square, which is just two blocks away. This hotel is a great choice for those who aren't looking for a luxurious stay, but rather somewhere clean and comfortable to sleep while they enjoy their time in New York.

There's a really nice bar/restaurant called Pigalle just a little further up 8th Ave, at 48th St. Tricky to find nice places in this area as it's so touristy.

If you take a shower and doesn't like this, it is extremely unpleasant. The staff is nice to change rooms but it didn't fix the problem.
