Don't be tempted to spend too much in the area of the hotel as there are much cheaper areas a subway ride away.

The restaurant round the corner, Rosa Mexican is excellent. Our most interesting outings were the Radio City Music Hall backstage tour, the Top of the Rock skyscraper and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum.

Take the 'Shark' speedboat ride around the Statue of Liberty (look out for free ticket offers with some of the bus tours). Fast and wet but great fun!

Go across the street to Bread & Soul in the morning for fresh fruit, bagels, and juice for breakfast. It was around $7 a person there, instead of $20 for the hotel breakfast!!!! Then take your breakfast to go and walk a block to Central Park!!

This was our first trip to New York. We were very happy with the Empire, and would go again. It was near Central Park, Broadway, and Columbus Circle. The room was clean, and stylish.

We had a queen size bed, which is for the small rooms. Barely room to store luggage; bathroom is very tiny, no room for personal items; show has not shower door.

Brilliant position just off central Park. Every thing was great but main desk staff can seem a bit unhelpful. Rest of service- rooms, cleaning cleanliness, other staff was brilliant.
