Poor First Impression

We requested a non-smoking room in our booking with Expedia months prior to the trip. Upon registration at MGM Grand, we were informed that there were no non-smoking rooms available. After raising our concern, they were able to accomodate our request; however, it seemed like they were doing us a huge favour. In fact, they just provided us what we had requested and had wasted 30 minutes of our time upon check in. Overall, a poor first impression. Also, the hallways were noisy during the nights. I would chose a different hotel in the future.

MGM has given up on customer service

Having been delighted with my stay at a number of other Las Vegas properties, I decided to return to the MGM Grand. What a mistake. The line for check-in took close to half an hour. When I got close to the agent at the counter, the counter was closed and I was brusquely instructed to go to a new line. When I finally got to the counter, I was informed my room was not ready even though it was over an hour past check-in time. They explained that this was not their fault because the hotel had been busy the previous evening. They then told me my smoking preference was just that: only a preference and they would put me in whatever room they had available. Since we had prepaid, my friends and I had no choice except to wait for our rooms. We went to the lounge and spent a significant amount on drinks, which may be the whole MGM scheme; i.e., keep guests out of their rooms so they have to spend money in the casino / lounge / restaurant. Unlike the staff at other Vegas properties, the MGM Grand staff were unfriendly - even surly at times - and patently unhelpful. They would do well to learn from their competition. I am not returning to the MGM.

The Time of My Life!

I would recommend renting a car if you're not driving. There is so much to see in Las Vegas!

We brought the kids back

We stopped a year ago in Las Vegas and happened to get a good rate for the MGM Grand. We wanted to let the the kids see Vegas before the bright lights become Sin City. We had so much fun we detoured there again this summer. A walk on the Strip, time in one or more of the really cool pools and a meal at the Rainforest Cafe made for a really cool visit!

Impressive quality

Hotel quality is great and rooms are impressive. But one complaint is even though I had reservation ready 2 weeks ahead of my visit the room was not ready when I arrived to checkin. I had to wait couple of hours in the lobby before I could get into the room. Customer service was friendly and helpful.

Wonderful!

If you are going to gamble a lot, make sure you get the Players Club card. We got a 4 free buffets and then you can redeem your points for free play money. Also, if you charge food, beverage, or show tickets to your room, you can get those comped for you at the end before you check out depending on points.

Very nice hotel to stay at!

Room was clean and beds were very comfortable. Wide selection of food to eat from every price range. Casino was not smoky and overcrowded as I have read from other guests. Pool area was beautiful and enjoyed by me and my family. Highly recommend this hotel.
