Hotel was in a great location, and the room was stunning. A couple of 100 year old fresco on the ceiling of our room capped it off. The staff were all extremely friendly, especially the man serving the bar down stairs. Made for such a pleasant stay. And what needs to be said about Venice...

Take a water taxi to/from the airport, although expensive (100 euro) it is so much more convenient than taking the water buses, takes less time, 25 minutes as oppossed to 2 hours and negates having to find the hotel from the water bus stop which is difficult without a map.

Gondolas are mega expensive, but....if you do go on one chose one off the main drag - around the Rialto Bridge looks like a carnival ride for gondolas. Walk away and seek one much quieter and more like the real Venice.

Look after the pennies: Have late night drinks at the hotel; they are, unusually, cheaper than most restaurants. Choose your bar carefully for drinks as prices vary greatly. Also, use the stalls around the market for tinned beers during the day and save up to 2.50 euros per drink. Don't pay 2.00 euros for 1.5 litres of water, find a stall with 1.00 euro bottles.

Nice, clean hotel with very friendly staff. Good location - 10 minute stroll from the Rialto bridge and within walking distance of numerous restaurants. Good choice of breakfasts, and if you're up early enough you can get a table on the balcony, overlooking the grand canal. Room included air conditioning - a necessity for Venice in the summer.

Be sure to download the directions to the Ca'Favretto (available on their website) so you have a good map to use as a reference. Although the hotel is just a short distance from either the San Stae or Rialto Bridge water bus stations the map reference will come in handy as one traverses the narrow streets and passageways.

We arrived at the the hotel San Cassiano Ca'Favretto by private water taxi from Marco Polo airport which was very exciting. The rooms were clean, spacious and well appointed with excellent air conditioning. the reception and bar staff were very helpful and polite offering touristy information without us even asking for it! Breakfast is served in a lovely sundrenched room overlooking the canal and the balcony downstairs overlooking the canal was great for drinks int he afternoon. The Rialto bridge was a short walk away and we were close enough for it to be convenient, but far enough away for our sleep to be blissfully quiet and not interrupted by any church bells one down side is that we were on the 3rd floor of a building with very high ceilings and there was no lift.

We arrived by private water taxi (pricey but worth it)to be greeted by really helpful staff and complimentary drinks, enjoyed on the hotels own terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. The hotels location is superb, fronting the Grand Canal, close to points of interest but actually in a very quiet and unbusy area. We had a large room overlooking the canal, decorated in the Venetian style. There are 2 tables in the restaurant which are positioned on the outside terrace and if you are an early riser it's worth it to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a buffet style breakfast. The staff were friendly and very helpful and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Water bus travelcard for set period can be cheaper and best way of getting around the waterways (one-way ticket expensive in comparision to say a 48-hr pass). Be aware of the ticket expiry date/ time!
