Close to Gaslamp - and relatively cheap

Try Richard Walker's Pancake House on First. The Applecake was soooo good!

A decent place to stay

In general a neat hotel and a good location. But a few things pointed out that the facility is in need of some updating/retrofitting - the bathroom lacks a vent, and the vanity lights had to be tinkered with twice to get them to work, etc..

Very Friendly People

Seaport village is very close. Avoid driving there. It is a very short walk.

Excellent hotel in the Gaslamp quarter

Was in an excellent location, close to the downtown nightlife and only a 15 minute drive to La Jolla.

Nice Hotel; Very Disappointing Service!

While, I would like to recommend the Bristol, sadly, I cannot. Something was just not right about the place, and it had to do with the service. While everyone was pleasant and tried hard, I encountered the following oddities during my stay: 1)I twice asked for a luggage rack to be sent to my room and never received one. 2)The first time I went to make coffee in my room, I found that the coffee maker had not been cleaned after the prior guests departed-disgusting! 3)The front desk staff could not find the key to operate the guest computer in the lobby; they kept going into the office and producing key after key none of which fit the hard drive. 4)Cars were valet parked at a remote site; so whenever the valet was retrieving a car, there was no one manning the parking/valet station. 5)My bill was not made up when I went to check-out, and the desk clerk struggled to print it. The Bristol should print each departing guest bill the night before and slip it under their door. 6)While I was checking-out, the desk clerk took multiple phone calls and responded to various walk-up inquiries. I was left waiting and finally complained, at which point the desk clerk got irritated with me. This is unacceptable and unprofessional! 7)The lobby bar opened for business 20 minutes late because the bartender couldn't unlock the liquor cabinets. In Summary-The hotel is lovely and conveniently located, but the staff need to be trained, better organised and develop some common sense.

Great location!

The Bristol Hotel is only a few blocks from the Gaslamp District, which made getting food and drinks much more convenient. Also, there is an outdoor mall close by, as well as a 7-Eleven down the block, so getting any necessities is quick and easy. For those who like to start their day with a coffee/tea and pastry, there is a great coffee place about a block away. The hotel offers valet parking, which works out well, given the lack of street parking. During the week, the hotel offers happy hour deals at its bar, Daisy's. It's a nice way of grabbing a drink and an appetizer before going out. Another amenity is the guest internet console, although there is often a wait. The room was decorated in a modern style, and was clean and comfortable. The bedside lamp with iPod dock/charger was fun. Overall, a great place to stay! I highly recommend.

Great place to stay - Great location

Central to most things, everything was just around the corner. Transit Store for purchasing public transport tickets, trolley station, bus station, 7-11, Shopping Centre, Gaslamp Quarter. We didn't hire a car, and we didn't need to because of the Bristol's great location!
